Event Details
Cathie Travers solo accordion recital. The range of sounds the accordion can produce is often a surprise to the uninitiated. From its roots in central and eastern Europe in the early nineteenth century the accordion spread very quickly through Russia and Latin America. Composers as diverse as Tchaikovsky, Hindemith and Charles Ives have written for it. Cathie’s program will include music by Piazzola, Chopin, The Penguin Cafe Orchestra and her own compositions.
