The Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival's program includes Andrea Keller's project Journey Home. Inspired by the words of Allan Browne, who reported that ‘every great story is usually about the journey home’, this is a collaboration between pianist/composer Andrea Keller and film maker/photographer Hayley Miro Browne. Journey Home centres on new works and improvisations for solo piano composed and performed live by Keller in full complement with Miro Browne’s film, bringing together images of Australia and the Czech Republic in the 1970s & 80s (captured through the lens of Keller’s late father Erik Keller) with today. Given the extraordinary displacement of so many people around the world, the universal sentiments of childhood, family and home seem particularly pertinent.
