Event Details
Once in a while a collaboration reaches the heart of why we make music. This concert honours such a collaboration, built on friendship and love. Award-winning classical guitarist Karin Schaupp joins the Flinders Quartet, which embarks on its first national tour since welcoming Wilma Smith as second violin. This special program captures the spirit of works rarely heard but exceedingly inspired – all carrying the passion, artistry and friendship of this collaboration.
The concert includes Imogen Holst’s moving Phantasy Quartet, Southern Cross Dreaming by Australia’s Richard Charlton, and deliciously contrasting works for guitar and strings from three very different Italians, ending with two movements from Boccherini’s fiery Fandango, a work they recorded in 2010 for ABC Classic.
This special program captures the spirit of works rarely heard but exceedingly inspired – all carrying the passion, artistry and friendship of this collaboration.
