Event Details
After their successful concert in 2010 and special guest performance at Dame Elisabeth Murdoch's 102nd birthday the trio will perform an intimate concert in the Salon, with an inspiring program of new music composed by the trio and selected pieces from their award winning album Under the Tall Trees which won the APRA/AMC 2009 Instrumental Work of the Year for the jointly composed piece 'The River Meets the Sea'.
Manins also finds the Salon one of her favourite venues to perform in. She says, “It has the acoustic space we need as well as a wonderful intimate atmosphere for both us and the audience. The natural wooden acoustics in the Salon allow us to create and explore beautiful and varied textures and colours with our instruments.”
“The Australian cello-piano-percussion trio casts too wide a net to play chamber music in the classical sense. Manins' classical bow technique and Gould's languid jazz feel were occasional signposts but from Jones's first eccentric note - we were on a trip beyond genre perimeters.” The Age
