Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as “a splendid musical mind”, jazz and classical composer and pianist Mark Isaacs has recorded and performed with some of the biggest names in international jazz – including Dave Holland, Roy Haynes, Kenny Wheeler, Adam Nussbaum and Vinnie Colaiuta - yet he also writes symphonies and concertos and works as a classical pianist, his work in that area being praised publicly by classical music luminary Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Mark’s Resurgence band has been widely acclaimed in recent years and has toured internationally and released several acclaimed CDs, and now Mark presents the music in his much-loved intimate trio setting with Resurgence crew members Brett Hirst (bass) and Tim Firth (drums).
Mark has recently co-produced a film for television of the premiere of his first symphony by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, a work commissioned by former media executive Kim Williams AM. The program will debut October 19 on Foxtel’s cable TV arts channel STUDIO.
