Curious by nature, jazz responds to change as it seeks to understand. It draws on intuition, imagination and innovation to bond artists and listeners in a shared journey, unique to that moment.
Using this idea, Mark Isaacs and Loretta Palmeiro have created a 30-minute meditation in jazz. A highlight of SIMA’s the Space is the Place series earlier this year, their real-time compositions take listeners on an evolving voyage inspired by jazz, classical and folkloric music.
What results can be brash, delicate, passionate or furious and proof that unpredictability can be a beautiful journey even if the destination is unknown.
