Event Details

A moonlit Bavarian forest and the vast Latvian lowlands are the backdrop for a concert of miracles, magic and wonder. Arnold Schoenberg plunged the deepest, darkest corners of romanticism in his portrayal of love, new life and ultimate acceptance inspired by the poetry of Richard Dehmel. Originally a wordless meditation for choir and strings, Vasks’ Plainscapes explores the complex relationship between nature and man and the fragile beauty of life.

2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the Benaud Trio. This special trio of concerts looks backwards nostalgically to some favourite pieces but also enthusiastically into the future with new music from composers with whom the Trio feels a special connection.

Featured non-Australian music: Schoenberg, Vasks
