Event Details

The  Moorambilla Voices 2016 Gala Concert features the beautiful sound of 300 children from across the rural and remote region of north-west NSW plus a rich and varied array of musicians and artists. This award-winning program is presented on Saturday September 24 at Dubbo's Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.

New this year to the program are members of the Australian World Orchestra, flying in from all over the world from orchestras in Stuttgart, Berlin, Vienna and Cologne, Wales and Denmark.

The concert also features Australia's leading vocal ensemble Song Company, Taikoz  percussion artists and stunning digital stage designs by Noni Carroll and regional photographic artist 'Burra Mac', Christopher McHughes from Brewarrina. The children are singing contemporary Australian compositions about the landscape of the region commissioned for them by leading Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin, as well as Andrew Howes, and emerging composers William Yaxley and Josephine Gibson. Choreography by Queensland Ballet Education Coordinator Jacob Williams adds an powerful dimension to the concerts.

As a finale to the evening event, the precinct outside the Dubbo Regional Theatre will come alive with stunning light sculptures created by Jyllie Jackson and the Lismore Lantern Parade team. Two spirit birds and Maliyan the protecting wedge-tail eagle will herald a journey through the ancient rocks of Mount Grenfell - all in paper and light. A magnificent fire sculpture will then say farewell to the travellers from across the region, who have participated in this year's 'best ever' program.
