Event Details
Paul Verlaine was one of the most exquisitely lyrical poets in the history of French literature. Admired for the musical qualities of his verse, the simplicity and directness of his expression and his ability to create moods and feelings through the magic of words, many composers have attempted to turn his verse into music. In this program we hear no fewer than four settings by different composers of La Lune Blanche, intersperced by readings of his poems by ever-popular Brisbane actor, Eugene Gilfedder. Internationally acclaimed guitarist Slava Grigorian adds his unique brilliance to this program.
Featured non-Australian music: Faure, Debussy and Hahn
