Event Details

Once considered more valuable than gold, MYRRH explores this ancient, amber-coloured fragrance through music for 100 voices and brass. Ross Edwards’s Eternity receives only its third performance since it was premiered at the 1974 Adelaide Festival. Equal parts sound installation and artistic ritual, it is a golden meditation on sound itself. John Tavener’s final cycle from his masterwork, The Veil of the Temple, premiered in 2003 to universal acclaim, will receive its Australian premiere in the stunning acoustic of The Fitters Workshop – revealing its Stradivarius-like golden sound.

Performers include:The Song Company, VOX, Oriana Chorale, Igitur Nos, The Resonants, Radford College Chamber Choir, Burgmann Anglican School Choirs, Woden Valley Youth Choir (dir. Alpha Gregory), Canberra Camerata, Louise Page (soprano), Catherine McCorkill (clarinet). Conductor: Roland Peelman.

Featured non-Australian music: Tavener
