Event Details
Experience an evening of groundbreaking Australian music with the Monash Animated Notation Ensemble (MANE) at Tempo Rubato, Brunswick VIC, on Saturday, 2 November from 8-9pm.
Directed by Professor Cat Hope, MANE is an ensemble dedicated to the performance of works using animated notation, a contemporary approach to music scoring that integrates dynamic, visual elements.
The evening will also include a new work for double basses and electronics by Professor Hope, and a composition by Sze Tsang, commissioned by ensemble member Nicole Canham.
Professor Cat Hope says, "Animated notation is music scores in motion - a new and exciting way to describe music for performers to play, resulting in new sound worlds and exciting visual artworks. MANE are dedicated to this way of playing music."
This performance offers a unique exploration of digital notation, pushing the boundaries of contemporary music in an intimate concert setting.
Admission is free, but registration is required to attend.
