Event Details

New North presents their premiere concert, Ghost Lights, featuring three sets of new music from some of Narrm/Melbourne's most exceptional experimental artists. New North presents music on land stolen from the Wurundjeri people, the Traditional Custodians of the land, and we acknowledge that their sovereignty was never ceded.

James Rushford & Callum G'Froerer

Callum’s singular trumpet playing and the eclectic brilliance of James Rushford, one of Australia’s leading experimental musicians, unite in a new collaboration for double-bell trumpet, portative organ and electronics.

Lily Tait & Nick Ashwood

In collaboration for the first time, Naarm-based guitarist Nick Ashwood and violinist Lily Tait come together to create a new work. The duo will use elements of small percussion, bowed instruments and pitched resonances to explore durational exchanges, harmonic space and fine textural shifts.

Lisa Salvo/Duré Dara/Maria Moles/Scott McConnachie/Joseph Franklin

Lisa Salvo (vocals), Scott McConnachie (guitar) and Maria Moles (drums) of experimental pop band On Diamond team up for a one-off collaborative performance with legendary improvising percussionist Duré Dara and avant-garde composer/bass player Joseph Franklin. Lisa's songs are layered and interspersed with improvisation, weaving open song forms coloured by acoustic-ambient and amplified-effected sounds.

Tickets are $20/15 and are available from Eventbrite and will also be available at the door (card preferred). We offer complimentary tickets to those who can't afford entry. To arrange a complimentary ticket, please send an email with your name and the phrase 'COMP' to info@newnorthmusic.online.
