Two of Australia’s most applauded jazz and improvising pianists join with the cream of Melbourne’s young jazz talent for an unforgettable concert event, the first in a year long program celebrating the 50th anniversary of Music on Campus at Monash University.
Across 2015, Monash University will celebrate 50 years of Music on campus with a diverse series of performances and events reflecting the progressive nature and the broad focus of the school. The concerts will feature visiting national and international artists, current students, staff and alumni.
The opening concert features two giants of Australia Jazz, Mike Nock and Tony Gould, both multi award-winning international artists in their own right, joining their incredible forces with the power of a full ensemble of wonderful, young musicians from the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music.
They will be joined on stage by renowned musicians and staff of the School of Music: Rob Burke (Sax); Jordan Murray (Trombone) and Paul Williamson (trumpet) along with the cream of jazz students from the school, performing a program improvised piano works and jazz standards.
