Event Details
The first in a series of concerts which specifically feature various instruments within the Ensemble. This concert will showcase a work where the flute and piano are put to the test with Prokofiev’s charming and virtuosic Flute Sonata. Featured also will be the world premiere of a new piece by innovative young Australian composer Cyrus Meurant titled Eventide Visions, for flute, clarinet and piano. One of the best-known compositions in the violin repertoire is Franck’s Sonata in A major, which was composed as a wedding present to violinist and friend of the composer Eugène Ysaÿe. This work will also be performed along with the unparalleled Clarinet Quintet by Johannes Brahms featuring David Rowden as soloist.
Featured non-Australian music: Chamber works by Prokofiev, Brahms and Franck
