Event Details
This event celebrates the centenary of the birth of Australian composer Raymond Hanson (b. Sydney 23 November 1913, d. 1976). A long-standing member of the NSW State Conservatorium of Music teaching staff, he taught composition, harmony, ear training and more. Those he taught or influenced include many distinguished Australian composers and musicians. His compositions demonstrated a sometimes radical approach, and his teaching has been warmly remembered by many.
Following the symposium, the concert will present music by Hanson.
This is a free event - for the symposium, RSVPs to con.rsvp@sydney.edu.au would be appreciated.

'unsung' hero
Posted by Chris Williams on 24 November, 2013
This was a fantastic day. It is exactly the kind of event we need for the 'unsung' heroes of our musical heritage. Congrats to everyone involved.
