Event Details
Selby & Friends’ final concert of their 10th anniversary season is an explosion of piano trio delights, an unparalleled adventure in listening to chamber music from various corners of the globe. Transcendent Brahms, Schubert’s unmistakable one-movement piano trio masterpiece, virtuosic Liszt in a rare chamber work by this master, and a 21st-century work by Australian composer Gerard Brophy from which the program takes its name. All are hallmarks of the huge diversity championed by Selby & Friends.
Violinist and Artistic Director of the Festival Strings Lucerne Daniel Dodds makes his highly anticipated return to Selby & Friends, performing with one of Australia’s finest cellists, Julian Smiles, and pianist Kathryn Selby. This final program of the 2016 Selby & Friends season invites listeners to revel in the intimacy of the piano trio and chamber music at its best.
Featured non-Australian music: Schubert, Liszt, Brahms
