The SILVER WINDS ENSEMBLE featuring two of Australia’s award- winning flautists - Mark Underwood, flautist James Fortune, together with celebrated Australian composer/pianist Margaret Brandman present a melodious, harmonically luscious and rhythmically vital Classical and Contemporary/Crossover program. The sparkling gem of the concert is the world premiere of Margaret’s SILVER WINDS SUITE for solo flute, commissioned and performed by Mark Underwood together with Margaret on piano. In addition to music by Bach, Köhler, Poulenc, Tchaikovsky and Telemann, the programme will also feature several of Brandman’s melodic works from her Cosmic Wheel of the Zodiac cycle, and Latin-American works from her La Vida Apasionada suite, arranged especially for two flutes with piano. And to conclude the concert, the ensemble will perform Mark Underwood’s own engaging arrangement of Waltzing Matilda!
