Event Details

Melbourne-based vocalist Gian Slater and pianist Andrea Keller are both regarded for their unique artistic voices. Committed to producing creative improvised music, both are prolific composers intent on creating opportunities for collective music making. Between them they have released many considerably lauded albums, including performances together on Slater’s debut release ‘In My Head’ and Keller’s ARIA nominated ‘Angels and Rascals’.

Slater recently received the Australia Council’s Creative Australia Fellowship to develop her innovative vocal ensemble, Invenio and has just returned from a productive season in New York. Keller has just emerged from a two year Australia Council fellowship period, having created a large body of work, developed a new ensemble and produced three new recordings.

Keller and trumpeter Phil Slater share a long-standing musical relationship, which began as 14 year olds in the Sydney Youth Orchestra Jazz Band. Over the years the pair have continued to collaborate in various performance settings. Equally renowned for his individuality as a perfomer and contributions as a composer, this performance will feature works by Phil Slater, Gian Slater and Andrea Keller in what promises to be a compositional and musical feast.
