Event Details
Led by ARIA-winning bassist Lloyd Swanton (The Necks), The catholics are one of Sydney’s most-loved jazz super groups.
Their 25 year history has resulted in eight critically acclaimed albums that traverse the globe with influences from African, Eastern and Carribbean music.
Rolling Stone praised the all-star band for its ‘richness, diversity, accessibility, virtuosity, imagination, and inventiveness’, and part of that is the group’s ability to make swinging jazz work over world beat grooves. Comprised of Sydney’s greatest players, The catholics sound like what you’d hope Paul Simon might write after Graceland, or a dream in the heat of the day.
