Event Details
In celebration of the life of the late Clifford Hocking, generous support from the Harold Mitchell Foundation has made it possible for Melbourne Recital Centre to commission Peter Sculthorpe to create a new work to inaugurate Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Song of the Yarra is Peter Sculthorpe’s commemoration of the Indigenous custodians of the river and its surrounds, bridging the ritual smoking ceremony conducted by Elders of the Kulin Nation and the European music that follows.
Featured non-Australian music: Mozart, Schubert
