Event Details
Min is a young Korean-Australian pianist, composer and improvising artist. She has featured as one of the 2021 emerging talents of Australia on ABC Jazz and was nominated as a finalist of the 2021 Australian Jazz Bell Awards for her recent albums. She was commissioned by the Sydney Women’s International Jazz Festival in 2021 to premiere a new piece for big band Pharos, working with Barney McAll (funded by SIMA and APRA AMCOS). This led to formulate a smaller ensemble and write for her new quartet alongside the local talents of Isaac Power, Elliott Parker and Christopher Evans. The group will showcase her extended arrangements of Carla Bley, Benny Golson, Bill Evans, Fred Hersch, Thelonious Monk, Australian Composers works as well as her new original works drawn from her improvising practices.
Featured non-Australian music: Fred Hersh, Carla Bley
