Euphoria is a new collaboration which brings together one of the world’s finest mandolinists, Masataka Hori, with the exquisite guitar and piano duo, mimi duo (Duncan Gardiner – guitar and Setsu Masuda – piano), and the combined forces of the wonderful West Australian Mandolin Orchestra. This combination of mandolin, guitar, piano and orchestra promises a concert filled with fun and energy.
The musicians will present gorgeous music from Spain, Italy, Japan and Australia, including numerous original works. Vivaldi’s sparkling mandolin Concerto in C Major and the rhythmical guitar concerto Spanish Impressions form the centrepiece of the program. The trio comprising Hori, Gardiner and Masuda will also present two acclaimed pieces dedicated to the victims and survivors of the tsunami disaster that affected vast areas of Japan in 2011.
Featured non-Australian music: Yasuo Kuwahara, Masataka Hori, Vivaldi, Raffaele Calace
