Event Details
A presentation of new works by seven young composers in celebration of Advent will be given at Paddington Uniting Church, St Ives Uniting Church (NSW) and Wesley Music Centre, Forrest (ACT) from 8-12 Dec. The program entitled Stations of Creation has been devised by Rev Dr Douglas Purnell of St Ives Uniting Church and will be presented by Chronology Arts.
Now in its third year, Stations of Creation engages new music by contemporary Australian composers to write along the theme "creation" in celebration of Advent. In this year Stations of Creation focuses on music by young composers.
This year, seven young composers have written works for this event, Timothy Tate (Qld), Nicole Murphy (Qld), Marcus Whale (NSW), Mark Oliveiro (NSW), Liam Flenady (Qld), Jessica Wells (NSW) and Travis Ash (NSW). Each take a different theme, ranging from Birth to the Cycle of Creation.
The composers’ works will be performed by Anna Dowsley, mezzo soprano, Max Bendall, baritone, Emma Hunt, clarinet, Lindsay Gilroy, piano, and Eleanor Betts, cello.
