Event Details
New Music Detroit brings their 9th annual marathon music festival, Strange Beautiful Music to Wasserman Projects Gallery – a unique warehouse-style arts space in Eastern Market! The avant-garde production features experimental and far-reaching sounds ranging from contemporary chamber music and European folk to experimental electronics and noise improvisation.
This year’s 8-hour new music marathon will feature the minimalist music of Steve Reich, who developed his sounds in the warehouses of New York in the late 60s. We continue this tradition at the very sleek Wasserman Projects Gallery with a strong lineup that includes New Music Detroit, Donald Sinta Quartet, GVSU New Music Ensemble, Willo Collective, Apex Contemporary, Detroit Bureau of Sound, and many more!
Program Includes:
David Lang - 'are you experienced', A Tribute for Steve Reich's 80th birthday, plus Ligeti, Boulez, George Benjamin, Marc Mellits and other emerging US composers
