Event
Sunday Live Brisbane : White Halo
- Date: Sunday, 2 November 2014, 1pm
- Venue: ABC Studio 420 (Brisbane) — Southbank, QLD
Event Details
With roots in the great music of the past, White Halo also grows the music of the present, having already commissioned major Australian composers such as Paul Dean, Andrew Ford, Matthew Hindson, and James Ledger. Highlights of White Halo's first season include the Bangalow Festival, and a gala launch at the University of Queensland, where it is ensemble-in-residence.
The program opens with Mahler's Piano Quartet in A Minor. This rarely-heard early work is Mahler's only (surviving) piece of chamber music without voice and appears to be the intended first movement of an incomplete piano quartet. Also to be heard is Matthew Hindson's work Epic Diva.
White Halo is Adam Chalabi (violin), Patricia Pollett (viola), Patrick Murphy (cello), and Liam Viney (piano).
Featured non-Australian music: Mahler, Schumann
