Event Details
Australia’s ARIA Award-winning a cappella quartet the Idea of North joins forces with Sydney Chamber Choir to explore the music of Icelandic pop princess, Björk. Drawing upon the rich vein of folk and a cappella singing, we perform a series of specially commissioned arrangements of the music of Björk as well as music from other Icelandic artists.
The program also explores music from Scandinavian composers, both popular and classical (including the Real Group, Knut Nystedt, Jan Sandström and ABBA) in a truly collaborative venture. It will also feature the premiere of a new work by Naomi Crellin (Gøta's Girl) plus a new arrangement by Dan Walker of the ethereal sound-world of Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros. Genre-crossing and mind-expanding: leave your preconceptions behind and join us on an epic musical adventure.
Featured non-Australian music: The music of Icelandic pop princess, Björk plus music from Scandinavian composers, both popular and classical (including The Real Group, Knut Nystedt, Jan Sandström and ABBA).
