Event Details

Syzygy's year-long tribute to mark the 100th anniversary of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire begins with a celebration of the world of dark hues, half-tints and masquerades. Debussy’s Cello Sonata was originally entitled 'Pierrot Furious with the Moon'. Its ethereal portrayal of a distorted world is matched by Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh’s splintered utterings in Towards the Beginning, and Brett Dean’s Night Window – the musings of a self-confessed insomniac. Season tickets also now available.

Syzygy Ensemble: Julia Stoppa: clarinets Jenny Khafagi:violin/viola Blair Harris: cello Leigh Harrold: piano

Featured non-Australian music: Toshio Hosokawa: Vertical Time Study no. I, Erkki Sven Tuur: Synergie, Claude Debussy: Sonate pour violoncelle et piano
