Event Details

Hailed as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of Australian Jazz and one of the finest large ensembles to emerge from Australia, Ten Part Invention is celebrating 32 years. Created by drummer John Pochée in 1986, their innovative approach and original compositions are an inspiration to the Australian contemporary jazz scene.

Ten Part Invention has toured widely in Australia, Asia and the USA, performing to critical acclaim. Their discography includes Ten Part Invention; Tall Stories; Unidentified Spaces; and Live at Wangaratta – the music of Roger Frampton, described by critics as one of Australia’s greatest historic jazz recordings.

Founding members of the band included legendary Australian jazz musicians Bernie McGann, Roger Frampton, Ken James and Bob Bertles. The current line up creates music that is unique and adventurous. At Wangaratta they will present some classic compositions from Frampton as well as new works by current band members.
