Event Details
The Australian Art Orchestra are proud to present the concert program 'The Plains' at Stonnington Jazz Festival on Sunday 12 May, fresh from its world premiere at the Jazztopad Festival in Wroclaw, Poland in 2018. Inspired by iconic Australian author Gerald Murnane’s vision of the Australian interior, Peter Knight's 'The Plains' creates a series of musical mirages that form an endless sonic horizon, reflecting and reimagining the wide open spaces of the Australian landscape. The program also includes Peter Knight's Sharp Folds (2018) and Andrea Keller's Hurry Slowly II (2018), which draws together influences from jazz, contemporary classical and minimalism to create a sound that is at once evocative, sensual and challenging. This show is part of the Chapel Off Chapel Concert Series, the Stonnington Jazz Festival specially curated concerts that bring a massive line-up of special events to the hallmark live entertainment venue right in the heart of the bustling nightspot in Prahran.
