A tribute to Tony Gould, sublime pianist, composer, educator and one of Australia's leading musical thinkers.
You are invited to a special inaugural screening of a film by Henk van Leeuwen and Tony Gould about the art of creative music-making in Melbourne and Gould's perspective on the meaning of improvisation and manifestation of jazz culture in Australia.
This is a film with a focus on Melbourne as Australia's leading creative centre and its talented practitioners of what we call jazz. Through a series of musical collaborations and dialogues with Tony Gould, this documentary highlights Gould's take on the art and freshness of improvisation, the attitude to playing it and the importance of being a listener both as a musician and an audience. This is a film for musical improvisers, jazz lovers of all kinds and above all for students and aspiring music makers.
