There are many stories about the creation of the world. In Chinese legend, it is said that the world as we know it today began in the form of a giant, cosmic egg containing all the matter of the universe. Inside this egg, the mythical character PANGU slept and slept. One day, after 18 000 years, PANGU awoke, stretched and broke the egg in two! What happens next? In their reinterpretation of this little known legend from China’s Neolithic age, Anna Yen, Julian Renlong Wong and Nicholas Ng reveal a very familiar, yet entrancingly different account of the world’s creation through music, story-telling, movement and visuals. This multi-platform show, based on the Shan Hai Jing (‘The Classic of Mountains and Seas’) from 400 BC to 100 AD, is bound to entrance audiences of all age groups with its sonorous live scoring, captivating movement and stunning imagery.
Performers: Anna Yen, Julian Renlong Wong, Nicholas Ng
