WF Bach wrote his viola duos to play with Sarah Levy in Berlin, where William returned from in 2020. Mary Mageau wrote her Preludes for Katie's old teacher Patricia, Luciano names each of his duos after the friend he wrote it for (we will play Tatjana, Pierre, Annie and more). Beatrice Florence Price wrote her "dreams at the washtub" to convey the power of dreams and fantasy in the life of a washerwoman. William wrote his butterfly duos inspired by the Balim Balim of Queencliff, the Cho-Cho of Tokio and the Papillion of Paris >__< Bela Bartok's (https://youtu.be/ydDL-TLMUNg) duos close out the program & we will play some excerpts of the wax recordings that he made of musicians from all over Central Europe. He spent a number of years travelling around recording wax cylinders of folk musicians and those recordings inspired him to write the duos we will perform. If there is sufficient enthusiasm we have prepared encores from a 16th Century Red haired woman and a 21st century ranger man...

Come down to Tempo Rubato and join us for a concert of some of the most beautiful music from the last 300 years performed on a 400-year-old Italian viola and a glorious modern Australian viola.
