Event Details

National Jazz Award-winner, ARIA Award-winner and Freedman Fellowship finalist Zac Hurren is a distinctly Australian saxophonist, composer and improviser. In 2011 Zac won the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album with his group Elixir, and they are currently preparing to record their next album with Katie Noonan and Stephen Magnusson, featuring a collaboration with Australian luminary Michael Leunig. With roots firmly probing the rich soils of Australian jazz and improvisation, Zac’s chordless quartet also draws inspiration from classical ideas, from baroque to serialism.

Special support: Brad Plays Ballads Bradford Child has been a fixture in Sydney jazz for 30 years. The Brad Child Orchestra were weekly residents at the Soup Plus for nine years, and he has performed internationally at Ronnie Scott’s, Notting Hill Festival, Edinburgh Festival and many more. Come see why Brad is a world renowned interpreter of old ballads.
