All welcome to gather in the funky and central localtion of Foundry 616 for a special evening of unique world music with a contemporary twist. Opening the night will be the launch of "Yulugi" - Gumaroy Newman (didjeridu) and Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute) spiritual improvisation duo, followed by 'Noche Flamenkita', a flamenco tour de force featuring acclaimed Spanish guitarist Paco Lara (Jerez) and let by Zoe Velez (vocals), Chachy Penalver (dance) and Byron Mark (cajon)

8:30pm Yulugi Yulugi is a fresh contemporary collaboration between Gumaroy Newman, an Indigenous didjeridu player and Keyna Wilkins, a composer-musician; a dialogue across cultures, a melting pot of Indigenous and Western sounds and textures. Inspired by the Australian landscape and animals, and accompanied by striking natural Australian projected imagery, this duo will explore spiritual awakening through "Yulugi" (meaning play or improvisation). The duo features Keyna Wilkins, a pioneering flutist, pianist and composer and one of three national finalists in the APRA/AMCOS Art Music Awards for Individual Excellence 2018, and Gumaroy Newman, is an in-demand didjeridu player who has performed all over Australia in Indigenous ceremonies and concerts alike including performing with Christina Anu. Stylistically broad, this duo will will take you on a journey into the heart of Australia with dream-like sequences alongside landscape depictions and animal mimicry and echoes of tribal lores, drawing on a myriad of musical influences, to create a unique and authentic soundscape of Australia.

You will be delighted by this talented group.” - Sydney Arts Guide 'Noche Flamenkita' is brought to you by Flamenkisimo, a Sydney based flamenco ensemble showcasing flamenco voice, guitar and dance, founded by Zoe Vélez, a Uruguayan-Australian flamenco singer and dancer who has been trained in the art of traditional flamenco cante (singing) in Andalucia alongside Byron Mark, cajon virtuoso. The troupe specialise in a unique blend of traditional intricate rhythms, moorish melodies and contemporary fusion aspects to bring audiences an electrifying show. Also featuring the exceptional Chachy Penalver, a dancer of great depth and beauty who is in constant demand. Chachy has featured in sold-out Flamenkisimo shows 'Entrelazar' (intertwined) and 'Tiempo' (Time). This performance will feature a very special guest, renowned Spanish guitarist - Paco Lara who is is an acclaimed flamenco guitarist from the authentic cradle of Flamenco that is Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Born into a family of flamenco aficionados. At just 16 years of age, Paco began working professionally as a flamenco guitarist with his brother, the singer José Lara, recording 2 albums and touring extensively. Embodying the unmistakable and genuine Jerez style of flamenco guitar playing, Paco has toured Internationally alongside Maestro Paco Cepero, one of flamenco’s most legendary guitarists and composers. and been at the vanguard of Flamenco Fusion with hugely successful bands such as El Barrio and Los Delinqüentes.
