High flight, for solo double bass (after the poem "High Flight" by John Gillespie Jr.) -- 6. The dove descending, for string quintet (after T.S.Eliot Part 4 of "Little Gidding" from The Four Quartets).
Winner of the South Australian Award in the 2011 AMC-APRA Art Music Awards.
A speaker may deliver readings of the texts which inspired the composition, which extends the performance time to around 40 minutes.
