A set of works for strings inspired by poems written in the hope of redemption, peace and freedom. The pieces can be performed as individual works or as a set; ideally each composition should be prefaced by a reading of the poem which inspired its creation.

The butterfly, for solo violin (after the poem "The Butterfly" by Pavel Friedmann written in Terezin Concentration Camp, 4 June 1942) -- 3. Cranes, for solo viola (after the poem "Cranes" by Rasul Gamzatov) --  4. Because I fly, for solo cello (after the poem "Because I Fly" by Brian Shul) --  5. High flight, for solo double bass (after the poem "High Flight" by John Gillespie Jr.) -- 6. The dove descending, for string quintet (after T.S.Eliot Part 4 of "Little Gidding" from The Four Quartets).

A speaker may deliver readings of the texts which inspired the composition, which extends the performance time to around 40 minutes.
