Product details
Combining a simple and almost austere modal language for the most part, with metric surprsises in the middle and an excursion into chromatic changes towards the end, Ballade is one of Stephen Lalor's earlier and most-performed works. Originally composed for his performing partnership with SSO harpist Louise Johnson, it seeks to exploit the natural harmonic features which make the two plucked-string instruments so appealing. Ballade has been performed by several notable playing partnerships, including renowned English musicians Alison Stephens & Lauren Scott (Duo Mandala).
The version for mandolin orchestra is the 2nd
movement of the World Music Suite.
