Sheet Music: ScoreBright Ring : for ensemble / Cathy Milliken.by Cathy Milliken (2018)

Product details
Bright Ring is a piece that has mainly grown from the fields of energy that I perceive whilst performing with the ensemble, energy which, in the endeavour of collaboration and interaction, and whether the energy is pulsing or still or both, is a tribute to life and what we make of it.
Bright Ring investigates the colour and resonances of moving and static sound blocks. The inception of the work began by re-imagining the vitality and exuberance of Ensemble Modern performances highlighted by combinations of sound and movements of sound performed with the ensemble's own particular energy and clarity.
In a non linear association, I turned to a poem by Robert Louise Stevenson (from Songs of travel) which also gave this composition its name.
"Bright is the ring of words
When the right man rings them,
Fair the fall of songs
When the singer sings them"
Bright Ring searches for the essence of an energy and its resonance between forces that co-exist and which can sound in words, which are sounded in the constant energy of plasma waves between a planet and its moons and which exist within systems of pulsing exchanges and interactions, as life itself.
