Product details

Over the years attending IFCM World Symposiums and ACDA National Conventions, I have heard and been excited by Anton Armstrong's workshops on Gospels and Spirituals. The style and intent resonates with me on a deep level. I also had the opportunity to be an accompanist for Anton when he visited Brisbane for an Australian National Choral Association Choral Festival in 2007.

My husband had written me some new gospel texts, so whilst on a week-long summer holiday in the Scenic Rim area south-west of Brisbane, I composed Don't Weep for Me whilst looking out over the mountains and the changing cloud formations from sunrise to sunset.

Don't Weep for Me is written in rondo form, beginning and ending with the chorus.

My mixed choir, the Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir, has learnt and performed this piece at the Queensland Eisteddfod and other concerts. They love it and it has become one of my many favourite gospel works.
