In Sympathy is a concert piece for alto saxophone and piano. It showcases close musical interaction between both instruments. Itn opens with the saxophone playing into the strings of a grand piano with the piano dampers released creating an extended resonance. It develops into complex rhythmic unisons between the both players. Rich melodic phrasing combined with jazz harmonies and scales exhibits a fusion of not only competing genres but intertwined musical histories.
