Product details
Jig a Jig, a lively piece with springy rhythms and a strong Celtic flavour, encapsulates the vibrancy of the dance of the same name. The jig is a spirited folk dance in compound metre. It developed in 16th-century England, and was quickly adopted on the European continent where it eventually became the final movement of the mature Baroque dance suite. Today, it is most associated with the folk dance traditions of Ireland and Scotland.
Jig a Jig, for solo violin with piano accompaniment, is written predominantly in 9/8 (3 in a bar) with some variations to keep the dancer (and the players) on their respective toes.
Be sure to watch out for that duplet!
