Sheet Music: Score & Part(s)Lamentations : for bassoon and piano / David Slater.by David Slater (2012)
|
Product details
Lamentations is composed in four short movements played continuously. Each movement reflects on a different aspect of Macbeth's final soliloquy (on hearing of the death of Lady Macbeth) from Act V of Shakespeare's play. It utilises most of the bassoon's wide range and combines passages of lyrical beauty and calm with others which of severity and aggression. Each movement begins in an atonal idiom, sometimes 12-tone, then gradually becomes more modal before descending to a dark minor conclusion.
Lamentations was composed for Higher School Certificate performance. It is of moderate to advanced difficulty, around AMEB grade 7 - 8.
