Sheet Music: ScoreMarch for the Republic / Don Kay.by Don Kay (2001)
|
Product details
Written as a Republican supporter in this centenary year of Federation, I composed this march with the intention of suggesting a sense of irony. It's as if the struggle for the Republic to become established continues to be thwarted by upholders of the status quo.
These upholders, represented by brief quotes from "Waltzing Matilda" and "Advance Australia Fair", compete with each other to establish pride of place, ultimately unsuccessfully. The dominating tune, representing the new republic, emphatically has the last say.
