Product details
'Modèles dans le sable' or 'Patterns in the Sand' was especially composed for Marie-Luise and Christoph Dingler 'The Twiolins' (Mannheim, Germany). The work serves as an exploration of the musical implications of linear additive compositional techniques, indeterminacy as an organizational determinant, probability theory, combinatoriality, and syncopation (or the art of 'displacement of the regular metrical accent'), as well as two simultaneous tuning systemsstructurally framed within a tripartite organizational scheme. One interesting aspect of the adopted compositional process is a provision for rhythmic development to be systematically influenced by True Random Number Generators (TRNGs are nondeterministic and aperiodic, and based on atmospheric noise, as opposed to Pseudo-Random Number Generators, or PRNGs, which are deterministic and periodic, and based on algorithms that use mathematical formulae) to make decisions on rhythmic colour orderings on the basis of random integer generation.
