Sheet Music: ScoreMoondani: Black : Moondani music II, for symphonic wind band / Taran Carter.by Taran Carter (2014)
|
Product details
In 2009, the Black Saturday bushfires destroyed lives, homes and farms throughout the St. Andrews region including that of Moondani, the composer, Taran Carter's family home. Five years after the fires MOONDANI: Black was composed in memory of the events of that day.
This music evokes the hot, dry Victorian February with the sounds of bell birds, insects, hot northerly winds and hissing radios tuned to 774AM bushfire reports. It celebrates the community of St. Andrews, portrays the horror of the firestorm, mourns for those who lost their lives, alludes to life cycles (with the return of the bell-birds) and finally culminates in a hopeful, gentle fanfare for the renewal of the community.
