A journey, an ineffable yearning, a struggle and a burst of exuberance culminating in a dissonant grasp of reality. Nameless is a short work for violin and encapsulates the expression and intimacy of a Baroque unaccompanied string work, albeit simply interchanging between two chords (A minor and G major). The main idea is presented in broken chords, gradually gaining momentum and height, whilst travelling through variations of the two-chord motif and instrumental colour.
