Sheet Music: ScoreNative Language : for kalimba and tárogató / Christina Green.by Christina Green (2017)
|
Product details
Native Language was composed for kalimba and tárogató, but is open to performance on a range of instrument combinations. The initial idea for the piece came from a Deep Listening Piece of experimental composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) - A Series of Mini Pieces (1992). One of the instructions in this piece is: 'Always speak your native language (determine what that is)'. I employed a familiar kalimba tuning as the 'native language'. The piece goes through various feels and sections, exploring a range of tonal areas available on the kalimba in this tuning.
