This resource is to assist educators in accessing, understanding and teaching Australian art music to students in the classroom environment. The resource is primarily for secondary school students and can be incorporated in classroom programs at the senior level, Years 11-12 and from Years 7-10. The content of this resource includes an introduction and background to Ngapa William Cooper, a ground-breaking work for vocal soloists and orchestra combining the compositional forces of Nigel Westlake, Lior and Dr Lou Bennett. This is followed by an overview of the composers and a detailed listening guide. Towards the end of the kit are teaching prompts/ideas to assist with the presentation and study of this work in the classroom. These prompts or tasks have been divided into Listening/Musicology, Performance and Composition.
