- Instrumentation: Piccolo (flute 3), 2 flutes, oboe, oboe/cor anglais, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 bassoons, 3 horns in F, 2 trumpets in B flat, 2 trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion (2 players), harp, strings (8.6.4.6.3). (Bassoons can be substituted for bass clarinet and tenor sax).

Encounter is a suite of 9 short orchestral works composed by Amanda Brown and Jodi Phillis. The pieces were composed to accompany a dance performance with a spoken narrative but also function as standalone musical works.
