Product details

Saral aavart gati or 'Simple Harmonic Motion' in mechanics and physics "is a type of periodic motion or oscillation motion where the restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement and acts in the direction opposite to that of displacement." The work adopts this title in reference to the Fakultät für Physik, Universität Wien (Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna) and Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts) 'Sounds of Matter' Project, which was established in 2017 as a platform to stimulate "creative new ways to convey scientific ideas through music." Saral aavart gati was especially composed for this project, which is focused on the field of material physics and features seven distinct 'Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna' research projects: nano carbon-metal hybrids, nucleation, polymers, 2D-materials, metallic glass, ferroic materials, and diffusion. Its structural design incorporates the data set timeline from Wilfried Schranz's 'Structure and Dynamics of Interfaces in Ferroic Materials' research project, based on the "energy distribution of a slow compression experiment performed on a mineral (schist from Großglockner)." According to the 'Sounds of Matter' website, "The term Ferroics is intimately related to crystals. Crystals are natural or synthetic materials with a high degree of order and symmetry. Ferroic expresses a certain functionality." In 2018, Saral aavart gati for Violin, Violoncello and Pianoforte, no. 445 (2017-2018) received its world premiere performance by Trio Immersio (Vienna, Austria) at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts) as part of being a Finalist in the main category of the 'Sounds of Matter' International Composition Competition.
